Professor Grażyna Stochel from Faculty of Chemistry at Jagiellonian Unicersity was elected as a member of Scientific Excellence Council (SEC). The Council is a new body that will work for the development of scientific staff and take care of the highest standards of quality of scientific activity required to obtain academic degrees, and the title of professor.
The composition of the SEC was established during democratic elections in which persons holding the postdoctoral degree or the title of professor participated. More than 28,000 people were eligible to vote, and over 18,000 of them took part in the election. In the future, the SEC will replace the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles in the supervision of individual promotion proceedings.
The SEC consists of three representatives of each discipline. In the field of „Chemical Sciences”, in addition to Prof. Grażyna Stochel, the prof. Bogusław Buszewski from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and prof. Marcin Hoffman from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan.
